Optics

Our optics group designs imaging, illumination, and detection systems for diagnostics, life sciences, and industrial inspection. We work the full stack, from optical architecture and illumination to sensors, alignment strategies, and image processing, with manufacturing tolerances and cost targets considered from the first concept.

Our Approach

Invetech’s optics group designs imaging and detection systems for diagnostics, life sciences, and industrial inspection. We work the full stack: from illumination architecture and optical components to sensors, alignment strategies, and the image processing that turns photons into actionable data.

Optical design is rarely hardest in the lab. It’s hardest at the seam between the optical bench, the moving stage that disturbs it, the consumable that scatters across it, and the cost target that has to survive volume manufacture. That’s the seam we’re built to live on.

Optical performance survives
or fails at the boundaries.

Optical performance fails or holds depending on what’s around it: motion, fluidics, the consumable, thermal drift. Our optics team works inside the same group as those teams, not as an external vendor. The alignment budget we design around is one the rest of the instrument can actually hold, and the manufacturability work starts at first concept rather than after first prototype.

Areas of Expertise

Optical System Design
End-to-end optical architecture for imaging, fluorescence, absorbance, and detection systems, from concept through tolerance analysis.
Illumination Design
LED, laser, and broadband illumination subsystems, with optical power, uniformity, thermal, and lifetime designed together rather than sequentially.
Imaging & Detection
Camera and sensor selection, integration, calibration, and pipeline design for the resolution, sensitivity, and throughput your assay actually needs.
Sensor Integration
PMT, sCMOS, CCD, and photodiode integration, including the analog signal chain, control, and data acquisition that surround them.
Alignment & Manufacturability
Tolerance analysis, alignment strategies, and DFM for optical assemblies, so the system that works on the bench also works on the line.
